The difference between T6 and T651 is that under normal circumstances, the internal stress of T6 is relatively high, causing deformation during processing. The most suitable state for processing should be T651.
6061-T6 status: Cooled after solid solution heat treatment to achieve high strength, no further cold processing is required;
6061-T651 status: After solid solution heat treatment, it is cooled to achieve high strength, and then subjected to cold stretching by a stretching machine to eliminate residual internal stress after heat treatment, ensuring no deformation after deep processing to ensure the precision of machined products.
Due to the fact that 6061-T651 is a high-quality aluminum alloy product produced through heat treatment and pre stretching process, although its strength cannot be compared with 2XXX or 7XXX series, it has many magnesium and silicon alloy characteristics, such as good processing performance, excellent welding and electroplating properties, good corrosion resistance, high toughness, and no deformation after processing, dense and defect free material, easy polishing, easy coloring film, and good oxidation effect.
